Iowa County UW-Extension presented a workshop on karst geology on August 25, 2016. This event was attended by 50 or so people interested in this topic, which is of importance to our water quality in this area. It was interesting, informative and well done with knowledgeable speakers. Director and State Geologist Ken Bradbury, Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey (WGNHS), started with an overview, followed by WGNHS Geologist Madeline Gotkowitz, who explained water movement in our aquifers. Other presentations were made by Dave Hart, WGNHS; Eric Cooley, UW Discovery Farms; Kevin Erb, UW-Extension; and Paul Ohlrogge and Gene Schriefer, Iowa County UWEX. A field trip followed with the WGNHS geologists making everything understandable with their description and interpretation of the karst landscape. It was a learning experience for me and am grateful for the resources offered by WGNHS and UWEX.
