I chose instrumental music education because music is a HUGE part of my life. I’ve been learning, studying, and performing music for 10 years. Music has done so much for me and gotten me to places in life I would have never imagined. At first, I wanted to do music therapy because I wanted a career where I could help people in their life. But after lots of thought, teaching kids was the right path for me and truly what I want to do with my life.

What really surprised me about UW-Manitowoc was the level of expertise. Even though UW-Manitowoc is a two-year university and on the small side, it felt like I was at a four-year university. The classes were challenging and the teachers were absolutely great. Every teacher I’ve had here has taught me so much, and they really deserve a lot of credit for everything they do and their dedication. Also, I feel very comfortable and at home when I’m at school because the staff is friendly, the environment is fantastic, and it truly is a great school to attend.

This fall I will be transferring to UW-La Crosse. I plan to obtain my bachelor’s degree and pursue a career as a high school music teacher.

I chose UW-Manitowoc because it was an efficient way for me to save money before going to a bigger, four-year university. I thought it would be a good idea to go to school locally at UW-Manitowoc and get my general education courses out of the way, so when I get to a four year I can focus on my career path more in depth. At the same time, saving money! UW-Manitowoc was a great option.
