I work for the UW-Madison Earth Partnership program, which has provided professional development for teachers and communities on creating schoolyard learning spaces through ecological restoration since 1991. We have worked with Dr. Justin Hougham since 2015 to incorporate Upham Woods/UW-Extension DOTS (Digital Observation Technology Skills) kits into our teacher institutes in Milwaukee, reaching 45 educators in 12 area schools. DOTS kits contribute significantly to our time-tested curriculum through the thoughtful inclusion of affordable technology as we train teachers and students in environmental science lessons that meet 21st century needs. We have been so pleased that we are scaling up DOTS kits to be included in teacher and community workshops in 4 Native Nations communities around Wisconsin for the next three years and beyond. We look forward to continued partnership with Upham Woods/UWEX!
