I retired in 2014 and one of the things to do on my bucket list was to attend Master Gardener training offered by UW-Extension in Milwaukee and Waukesha. I finally had the opportunity to go through the training in the Fall of 2015 and I have to say it is one of the best choices I made. It has been a phenomenal experience. Dipping into the vast information given to us by Sharon Morissey and other speakers/teachers has been indeed challenging. It was a wonderful experience and the wealth of knowledge gained is tremendous. The binders filled with lessons and additional information helped to support the indepth learning experience. To maintain our MGV status, we are asked to volunteer and continue our education into the realm of gardening. Again, more opportunities to support community, people, and other organizations as a volunteer. And the offerings for continuing education are wonderful. I just finished a Level II Landscape Design online course offered by UW-Extension, Madison. It was just what I needed for next steps in updating my own yard, helping with volunteer gardens and offering suggestions to others who are hoping to update their gardens as well. I am grateful that I took the time to become a MGV and meet the wonderful, hardworking people associated with this program. They are tireless!
