UW Colleges & UW-Extension to Host Veterans Roundtable

To better understand the needs and the resources that currently exist for Wisconsin’s veterans, which total about nine percent of the state population, UW Colleges and UW-Extension will host Preserving Pathways: A Neighborhood Conversation to Support Veterans on Wednesday, November 1, at UW-Waukesha.

“Wisconsin has almost 400,000 residents who are veterans, and these veterans and their families have evolving needs in terms of education, employment, job training, family services and entrepreneurship,” said UW Colleges and Extension Chancellor Cathy Sandeen. “That’s why we are bringing together experts from the community and government for a conversation about what the current needs are and what else we can do to better assist this important group of people who served our country.”

The roundtable will bring key community and government stakeholders together to share best practices, discuss where gaps in services exist and collaborate in supporting Wisconsin veterans. The event aims to connect veterans and military families with what they need for meaningful employment, education and overall wellness.

The interactive sessions will give community members a chance to meet and ask questions of a variety of experts about the important topics impacting veterans and military families every day. UW Colleges and Extension Chancellor Cathy Sandeen will moderate the discussion, and panelists include

  • Representative Evan Goyke, Wisconsin’s 18th Assembly District (invited)
  • Kathy Still, Assistant Deputy Secretary, Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Neil Lerner, Associate State Director Wisconsin SBDC, UW-Extension
  • Jacqueline Sacco, Financial Aid Advisor/Veterans Benefits, Veterans Services Office, UW Colleges
  • Ruth Schriefer, Interim Program Director, Family Living, UW-Extension

The event is free and open to the public. Join the conversation at:
