Chancellor's Brown Bag WisLine
Chancellor David Wilson's next Brown Bag audio WisLine is Oct. 25, noon - 1 p.m. This is an excellent opportunity for all UW Colleges and UW-Extension employees to learn more about issues affecting both institutions and to interact with the chancellor. Employees are invited to gather at designated listening sites throughout the state. In the Madison area, employees can participate at the Pyle Center, 702 Langdon St. UW Colleges campus IT departments will send e-mails shortly before the event announcing campus sites. A limited number of phone lines will be available to those who cannot travel to group listening sites. The dial-in number for outside of Madison is (888) 677-9189; in Madison dial (608) 316-0022. WRLP nominations
The UW-Extension Wisconsin Rural Leadership Program (WRLP) staff seeks assistance from UW Colleges and UW-Extension faculty and staff in identifying potential candidates for its leadership training program. The two-year program is designed for Wisconsin adults who have already demonstrated leadership, but would like to broaden their skills and knowledge so they can better help their communities deal with critical public-policy issues. The program includes eight, three-day in-state seminars focusing on topics including technology, the environment and the economy. Participants also will travel nationally and internationally. Learn about the Acme Packers and much more about the city at the mouth of the Fox River on "Hometown Stories: Green Bay." The one-hour historical documentary, a collaboration by Wisconsin Public Television and the Wisconsin Historical Society, will be broadcast Nov. 12 at 8 p.m. on Wisconsin Public Television and Nov. 22 at 9 p.m. on Milwaukee Public Television. 2008 UW Colleges Colloquium
Save the date! The UW Colleges Colloquium is scheduled for May 21, 2008. This annual one-day professional development conference offers both UW Colleges and UW-Extension faculty and staff the opportunity to share expertise and information around a central theme. Recent colloquia themes have included "Joining Voices: Connections and Collaborations," "Innovation: Exploring New Vistas and Visions for the Academy of Tomorrow," and "Intersections of Academic and Personal Worlds." The Colloquium Planning Committee will be named this fall; the 2008 theme and a call for proposals will be issued no later than December. Check your e-mail, News and Ideas and the "Chancellor's Communiqué" for future announcements about this event.
