Calendar - Tips and Tricks
This week's tip shares tips about the Outlook Calendar that users might not be aware of!
Daylight Savings Time this year started three weeks earlier and will end a week later than it has in the past. This change could affect our Outlook calendars. Users should take a look at their calendars between March 11 and March 31. Organizers of a meeting, should check that the time for that meeting is correct during that time period. If not, please change the time to the correct time and notify the meeting participants of the correct time. In other cases where times are off on users calendars, the time can be corrected by dragging the item and dropping it on the correct time.

Here are several tips about the Outlook Calendar that new and experienced Outlook users will find helpful. They cover customization of calendar views, adding holidays, and more.
Adding Holidays to the Outlook Calendar
Users can automatically add holidays to their Calendar
On the Tools menu, click Options
.

Display Non-sequential Days Side by Side
What if a user wanted to view four non-sequential days side by side on their calendar? How would they do it?
Begin by holding down the CTRL key. Next click on the dates to be viewed on the thumbnail calendars. The dates selected in this case are outlined in blue, and have a yellow background in the image below.

As the user clicks on a date, that date is displayed in the Calendar View. Once all the dates are selected, they appear side-by-side. Dates are outlined in red in the image below.

To return to the normal calendar view, click on the Today button on the toolbar. ![]()

To quickly switch between viewing a day, a week or a month the user can change the location where they click on the thumbnail calendar and that will determine which view they see.
Click on the date to view a single day.:

For a week, click to the left of the
week to be viewed. The cursor
arrow
will flip horizontally so it
points at the calendar.

For the month view, click on the letter representing one of the days of the week.
Change the Time Periods in the Calendar Grid
To change the default setting for time slots from 30-minute time slots to 5-, 6-, 10-, 15-, or 60-minute time slots follow these steps:
Right-click on the Calendar and select Other Settings. Notice in the image below the time setting is currently 30 minutes.
