Announcing Our New Office 2007 Online Support Site and a Bonus Tip!
With the UW Colleges and UW Extension moving to Office 2007 this year, a team of trainers and web applications staff are working on making this a smooth transition for faculty and staff. Today's tip announces the new Training web site on the UW Extension/UW Colleges Integrated Web site. Because of the significant changes to the interface we strongly recommend users look at the basic documentation provided.
Remember, if you have ideas for the Computing Tip of the Week, please send them to Pat Fellows.
New Training Web site
The new training web site is located at: http://www.uwex.uwc.edu/it/instruct-support/training.cfm . There users will find links to many useful Office 2007 training documents, videos, and web sites. We encourage you to go here first with your questions about Office 2007. Here is a screen shot of the site!

Notice the Training site is linked from the IT navigation bar on the left side of the screen.
This site will be changing often. The plan is to add links to more training materials as they become available. Check back often, so make sure this page is a favorite in your browser.
Office 2007 Availability Reminder
As was mentioned above, we are migrating many staff and faculty within UW Colleges and UW-Extension to Microsoft Office 2007. The migration schedule is being planned right now for those affected by this change. If you have questions about whether or not you will be migrated to Office 2007, or want to find out approximately when your migration will take place, please contact your supervisor. Madison-based staff who are ready to move to Office 2007 can go to: http://uwex.uwc.edu/it/forms/service/ to submit a Service Request to have the Central IT Service Center load Office 2007 on your machine.
Office 2007 Files and Public Folders
Here is a better solution. Thanks to Marilyn Miller for discovering the tool to allow users to send to Public Folders from Word or Excel.
Begin by clicking on the drop down arrow next to the Quick Access Toolbar. ![]()
Click on More Commands.

This will open the Word Options Dialog Box. Once there follow these steps:
- Click on the drop down arrow next to Choose commands from:
- Change the list from Popular Commands to All Commands.
- Scroll down to and click on Send to Exchange Folder.
- Click on the Add button.
- Click on OK.

There should be a button on the Quick Access Toolbar as shown below. The button to Send to Exchange is now on the toolbar.

Clicking on that button opens the Send to Exchange Folder dialog box. From there, select Public Folders and then All Public Folders and finally click on the folder where the document is to reside.

As always, suggestions are welcomed and Computing Tips are appreciated. Send them to Pat Fellows.
