Service Learning

"Service, combined with learning, adds value to each and transforms both." - Jane Kendall, National Society for Experiential Education

Welcome to our Service Learning Web site! We hope that you will find the information and resources here that you need to integrate service learning into your work.

Service learning is a curricular approach now found in many K-12 and higher education settings. By educating with service learning principles in our programs, hosting service learners from schools and colleges, and supporting service learning in our communities, faculty and staff expand and enhance the ways we serve the people of Wisconsin.

For our colleagues on campuses, service learning is an excellent method of teaching that incorporates real-world experience with lessons learned in the classroom, and has become a mainstay of the UW Colleges' curriculum. The many partnerships in communities created by UW-Extension make this an especially rich time to create new service learning opportunities. We encourage you to reach out to your colleagues to create and develop service learning projects in your community. Together, we can tackle community matters through service learning.

We encourage you to explore this Web site to learn more and discover new ways to take advantage of what service learning has to offer!
